Mission Statement: The mission of the Deaconess Board is to assist the Pastor in developing the spiritual life of the women and girls of the Church; cooperating with the Pastor and Deacon Board in visiting members of the Church; and assisting in the preparation and administering of the ordinances of the Church.

Purpose
  • Committed and supportive to the Church Ministries
  • Assist in preparing candidates for baptism
  • Follow-up after baptism and assist with new members:
  • Assist the Deacons with Communion
  • Visit the sick and shut-in
  • Evangelize within outreach ministries
  • Serve when and where needed

Six "C's" to being an effective Deaconess

Deaconess of Tabernacle are required to be, and maintain the Six "C's". The Deaconess are to assist the Deacons in whatever capacity deemed necessary. They assist in Intake interviewing for re-instatements, letter or Christian experienced, candidates (especially the ladies) when expressing a desire to become a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church family. Deaconess assist the female candidates during baptism and prepare and clean up the communion table. Deaconess visit the sick at home, the hospitals, convalescent homes; bereaved families, and those behind the prison walls. Deaconess advise, help and encourage the young ladies in all walks of life as they strive to walk in a Christian manner.
